With funding from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada, IGNIT3 aims to improve nutrition for women, adolescent girls, and children over a span of five years (2023 to 2028) through targeted, integrated nutrition, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming. Over $4 million Cdn of IGNIT3 funding is allocated to Ghana to support programming which is expected to impact more than 30,000 people including health workers, women, children, and adolescent girls.
Through capacity-building activities, IGNIT3 will have national reach in Ghana alongside targeted interventions implemented in the Upper West and Greater Accra regions and other key regions. Activities that will be undertaken include:
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Canada;
5-year Paediatric Nursing Education Partnership Programme (PNEP) (2015-2020) which led to the training of 501 Paediatric Nurses, 2-year COVID-19 Response (2021-2023), which led to the training of 16,918 Healthcare Professionals on COVID-19 Prevention, Care and Vaccine acceptance (Virtual – 15,192 and in-person – 1,726).
The Project saw the distribution of PPEs for Clinical attendance and Public education through community outreach programmes which also led to the coverage of 115,522 unique individuals. Currently, SickKids is the process of Launching its new 5-year-long project on Increasing Gains in Nutrition through Education, Evaluation and Empowerment (IGNIT3). This would see the College serve as the key implementing partner in Ghana.
