Annual General And Scientific Meetings (AGSM)

Overview

GCNM

By design, Residents of the College on successful completion of their periods of residency at the College are graduated and inducted into Membership of the College as Associate Members, Members or Fellows.

In this regard, Residents in residency at the College are recognized as Affiliate Members. These form the Membership of the College.

Purpose of the Annual General Meetings and Seminars/Scientific Conferences

Our Annual General Meetings and Seminars/Scientific Conferences are designed to serve as platforms for:

Communication and Information Sharing

AGMs provide a platform for members to receive updates on the activities and achievements of the College over the past year. This includes reports on financial matters, committee activities, and any notable developments.

Accountability

AGMs offer a forum for leadership to be held accountable for their decisions and actions. Members can ask questions, voice concerns, and vote on various matters, such as the approval of financial statements and the election of new leaders.

Decision-Making

Significant decisions or strategies are often brought to the AGM for discussion and approval by Members. This democratic process ensures that important matters are decided on collectively.

Election of Leadership

The AGM is the time when elections are held to select new leaders or confirm the continuation of existing leadership.

Networking and Professional Development

AGMs often include educational sessions, i.e., Seminars or Scientific Conferences and networking opportunities. These are valuable for members to enhance their professional knowledge, skills, and connections in the practice.

Recognition and Awards

AGMs include recognition and awards ceremonies to acknowledge outstanding contributions and achievements by Members.

Member Engagement and Participation

By involving members in decision-making, AGMs encourage active engagement and participation, helping to strengthen the sense of ownership and commitment among members.

Updates on Industry Trends

AGMs often feature presentations and discussions on current trends, issues, and innovations in the field of nursing and midwifery. This helps members stay informed and adapt to changes in the professions.
