Office of the Rector

MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR, GCNM

It is my honor to welcome you to the digital space of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM), where we champion the postgraduate specialist education of nurses and midwives.

At GCNM, we are fueled by a relentless commitment to integrity, professionalism, and excellence in the conduct of our business of educating specialist nurses and midwives, who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ability to champion healthcare delivery and leadership in Ghana and beyond. With an unbridled commitment to our mission of providing Nurses and Midwives with career diversities through specialist education, and Continuous Professional Development, we aim at positioning our graduates at the frontier of research and policy formulation for the attainment of high professional standards and better health outcomes.

Established in 2011 under the Specialist Health Training and Plant Medicine Research ACT, 2011 (ACT 833), Part Three, and inaugurated in 2013, we celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2023 under the theme, “A decade of nursing and midwifery specialist education in Ghana: innovative and high impact interventions towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The celebrations afforded us the opportunity to take stock of our journey so far and to re-dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of our core mandates: i.e., promote specialist education in nursing, midwifery, and related disciplines; promote continuous professional development in nursing, midwifery, and related disciplines; promote postgraduate nursing, midwifery, and related disciplines, and contribute to the formulation of policies to improve health outcomes and public health generally.

To this end, I welcome you to the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM). Whatever your need is/are, I, together with my team, stand poised to serve you. Join hands with us, as a partner or as a resident as we journey on towards the realization of a centre of excellence in postgraduate specialist Nursing and Midwifery education in Africa and beyond… the future of GCNM.

Regards.

Hannah A. O. Acquah (Ms.),
